TOP 10
Here is a list of my 10 favorite books from 2018!
01
Pride and Prejudice by: Jane Austen
This book has been probably my number 1 since I was 13 years old. I love Lizzy, I think she is so head strong and loving, she is not afraid to be herself no matter who is around. Not to mention Darcy has stolen my heart. Not only Lizzy, but Jane's soft spoken-ness and kind heart remind readers of the very different types of women in London at the time.

02
Clockwork Angel by: Cassandra Clare
Set in 19th century London, Tessa is the classic lady, very determined to be proper. However, when she finds herself needing to solve the mystery of who, or rather what, she is, all rules of polite society fly out the window. She is insanely brave with a big heart. Jem, an absolute sweetheart, would give his life for his friends, and Will, a snarky boy, would fight for anyone in his life.

03
Stalking Jack the Ripper by: Kerri Maniscalco
Another book set in 19th century London, follows Audrey Rose, a bright and beautiful young girl. Not only is she smart, but she is determined to prove to the men in her life that she can do anything they can do, if not better. As an apprentice to her Uncle, she spends her days examining dead bodies. When a victim of Jack the Ripper lands on the examination table, she and arrogant student, Thomas, find themselves roaming the streets of London in the hopes of catching and stopping the murderer.

04
City of Bones by :Cassandra Clare
Set in current day (2000s) New York, Clary is an ordinary girl with one friend, Simon, a nerd, kindhearted boy who loves her dearly. One night, while attending a night club, Clary finds herself engulfed into a world of demons, demon hunters, vampires, angels, and so much more. Faced with a new identity, she must figure out where she belongs. With animated and relatable characters, the Mortal Instrument Series really holds a reader's attention.
05
Hawksong by: Amelia Atwater-Rhodes
The first book in a series, Danica is a princess of the avian-shapeshifter kingdom. As the princess, she is meant to ensure the survival of her kingdom at all costs, even if it means marrying the heir to the enemy's throne, Zane, the serpent-shapeshifter prince. With anger and distrust in her heart, a slow love manages to blossom. Each book is told from a different point of view, and personally Snakecharm (the second book) is my favorite!
06
Companion of the Night by: Vivian Vande Velde
Kerry believes she is going to take a quick trip to the laundry to retrieve an item from the lost and found. However, when she is witness to something dark, she finds herself spending the night with a vampire in the hopes of saving her family. I read this book in middle school and fell absolute in love with Ethan.
07
Sweep Series by: Cate Tiernan
I had to include this entire series because it is just so amazing and enthralling. Morgan believes she is a normal girl, but when Cal strides into her life, everything is turned upside down. With Magik at every turn of the page, this book fills you with wonder and thrill. Morgan is faced with the daunting task of finding out who she is and how to save her town from a darkness that is looming. This book actually opened my eyes to Wicca and changed my life forever.

08
Legend of Lady Ilena by: Patricia Malone
Although this book is a bit young, reading level-wise, it is an intense story about Ilena, a nobody girl from a small village in the time of the Arthurian Court. When her village is attacked, he is sent off to the newest kingdom, where her parents used to work, to find aid. When she arrives, she is faced with a truth she was not prepared for.

09
Girl Trouble by: Holly Goodard Jones
A collection of short stories about issues surrounding girls. Either told about a man having trouble with girls, or a woman having her own issues about identity and love. I was assigned this book in college and I think it is an amazing collection. Each story is encapsulating in their own way.

10
Devil's Arithmetic by: Jane Yolen
I haven't read this book since I was in middle school, but I remember loving every moment of this book. Hannah, a twelve year old in New York, find the history of her Jewish ancestors boring and unimportant. During Passover, she is suddenly transported to Poland in 1942, forced to relive the horrors her family went through, giving her a new outlook on not only the Holocaust, but her nationality as a whole.
