The book "Stalking Jack the Ripper" was absolutely amazing! This book was funny, dark, romantic, and tense.

Set in 19th century London, Audrey Rose Wadsworth is a headstrong 17 year old who loves to break tradition of polite society.

Apprenticing under her uncle as a mortician, she and her classmate, Thomas Cresswell are face to face with the 'first' victim of Jack the Ripper.

The book as a whole was phenomenal. The writing style was great and the characters were so realistic. Audrey Rose is so defiant and intelligent, while wanting to still remain feminine. Thomas, on the other hand, is cocky and arrogant, a little like Benedict Cumberbatch's take on Sherlock Holmes.

Maniscalco is studious in her recreation of 1888 East End London. From the technology/tools, to the victims, to the medical terminology used are all extremely accurate. (Although she does take small liberties that are mentioned at the end of the book.)

On a personal level, I have an almost unhealthy obsession with Jack the Ripper, so this book had my heart right from the beginning. But I also have a love for 19th century London and girls who defy societal rules.

The only downside I can say about the book is that the climax was a bit lacking and Maniscalco tends to say more than she shows, but it isn't too bad. Some parts I wish it would be shown and written in a way that helps the reader feel the way Audrey Rose feels.

Overall, I give the book 4.5 out of 5 stars.
